Methods of Cutting Silicone Sheets
Methods of Cutting Silicone Sheets – Silicone Sheets – Cheersonic
Silicone sheets are widely used in electronics, medical care, automotive parts, and other fields due to their excellent flexibility, high temperature resistance, and insulation. However, their inherent viscosity and elasticity make traditional mechanical cutting prone to problems such as sticking to the knife, burrs, and edge deformation, which seriously affect product quality and production efficiency. The ultrasonic cutting machine specially designed for cutting silicone sheets effectively solves these pain points and has become an indispensable core equipment in the silicone processing industry.
The working principle of the ultrasonic cutting machine for silicone sheets is fundamentally different from that of traditional pressure cutting. It converts 50/60Hz mains electricity into high-frequency electrical energy (usually 20-40kHz) through an ultrasonic generator, which is then converted into high-frequency mechanical vibration by a transducer. This vibration is amplified by an amplitude modulator and transmitted to the cutting knife, which vibrates microscopically at an amplitude of 10-70μm up to 40,000 times per second. When the knife contacts the silicone sheet, the vibration energy activates the silicone molecules, opens the molecular chains, and locally softens and melts the cutting area, enabling smooth cutting with minimal pressure.
Compared with traditional cutting methods, this equipment has remarkable advantages. Firstly, it achieves high-precision cutting with a precision of micron level, and the cutting size is consistent with the design standard without elastic deformation caused by excessive local stress. Secondly, the cutting surface is smooth and burr-free, and the vibration reduces the friction between the knife and the silicone, effectively avoiding knife sticking—a common problem in silicone cutting. Thirdly, it is efficient and environmentally friendly; the cutting speed can reach up to 30 knives per minute, and the knife head temperature is lower than 50℃ during operation, producing no smoke or odor and causing no pollution. In addition, the cutting knife has low wear, and its service life can be increased by nearly 50%, significantly reducing production and maintenance costs.
The equipment is highly adaptable and can cut various types of silicone sheets, including thermal conductive silicone sheets, shielding silicone sheets, and soft silicone pads, with adjustable cutting thickness ranging from 0.2mm to 200mm according to production needs. It adopts PLC human-computer interaction control and servo motor drive, with simple operation, automatic frequency tracking function, and multiple abnormal protection mechanisms such as overcurrent, overvoltage, and overtemperature to ensure stable and safe operation. It can be used as a handheld device or integrated into an automatic production line to meet the needs of small-batch customization and large-scale mass production respectively.
With the continuous development of the silicone processing industry, the demand for high-quality and efficient cutting equipment is increasing. The ultrasonic cutting machine for silicone sheets, with its advantages of high precision, good quality, high efficiency, and cost-saving, has become the preferred equipment for enterprises pursuing high-quality production. In the future, it will be further upgraded with intelligent and composite vibration technologies to better meet the complex cutting needs of the precision manufacturing field.
About Cheersonic
Cheersonic manufactures the leading portioning equipment for bakeries producing fresh and frozen desserts. Since 1998 bakers have used Cheersonic machines to cut, slice and portion cheesecake, pie, layer cake, loaves, butter, cheese, pizza, sandwichs, and more. Cheersonic offers ultrasonic cutting solutions that support start-up bakeries and high production commercial facilities alike. Small standalone machines can be used in manual baking facilities and large inline robotic solutions aid in high speed production.
Cheersonic offers many ultrasonic slicing models, both inline and offline applications, with production speeds of 80 to 1,500 cakes or pies per hour.
Cheersonic’ latest offline introductions include ultrasonic cutting with or without divider inserts between each slice. This improves the quality of the cut and makes for a much better product presentation for the customer. In addition, robotic arm improves the speed, efficiency, and accuracy of the cutting process, producing professional looking products every time.
